LIMA, June 28 – Peru’s President Ollanta Humala (photo)has inaugurated the country’s new National Institute of Child Health (INSN) which will provide world-class medical treatment to children with minor injuries to life-threatening illnesses.
The newly-opened children’s health care facility has 265 beds and houses 47 outpatient and procedure rooms, in addition of a high-tech surgical centre with 10 operating rooms in order to provide patients with appropriate levels of care.
The 24-hour access hospital has been implemented with a 56-bed intensive care unit (ICU), a Burn Unit, a Burn ICU, 3 operating rooms and a trauma rehabilitation unit for patients with burns who need to get a highly-skilled medical attention.
Other services to be operated are Clinical Pathology plus Anatonomical Pathology, Genetic Tissue Bank, Hemotherapy Centre with Stem Cell Bank and a high-tech Diagnosing Imaging Unit.
The INSN will carry out telemedicine activities, as well as telemanagement, thus making it the first health care facility in Peru with digitisation process. The National Institute of Child Health (INSN) is located on the Limean district of San Borja.
