JULY 3- Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif are likely to have their first meeting in September in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, a Pakistani media report said. However, Indian officials said they had no information about such a meeting.
Aziz, a former foreign minister, made the statement after a meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid in Brunei where both were attending the ASEAN Regional Forum ministerial meeting as observers. The meeting lasted for 20 minutes, said Dawn.
“No such meeting has been planned as of now,” said an Indian official.
Aziz said that India had expressed its desire to enhance bilateral relations and wished to take positive steps for improved ties between the two countries, according to Dawn.
