LONDON, July 4- Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak hopes the second generation of Felda settlers will be global citizens,  venturing into a new and exciting world.

The Prime Minister said they need to move on from the first generation of settlers who were focused on the physical development of the land settlements and were more domestic.

“The new generation needs to be more involved in new developments, and need to have an open mind to venture out into the world,” he said at a meeting with 130 Felda sponsored students, who are attending a three-month course at the Lim Kok Wing-Felda Generasi Global Enpowerment Centre, at Lim Kok Wing University here, Wednesday.

They arrived here last April and are attending a programme which aims to build human capital through innovation in education, creativity, entreprenurship and acquiring a global mindset to support Felda in societal innovation.

Najib was given a rousing welcomed with “We Love PM” banners and shouts of “Hidup PM” by the students, and he also joined the students in singing the “iM4U” song.

The Prime Minister also expressed his happiness to see the transformation of some of the students from being shy and lacking in self confidence and limited proficiency in English into new persons who would be the future leaders of Malaysia.

He said the government had aspirations, dreams and goals and to realise them  it needed people who could push transformation.

“However, transformation should not only involve transforming the people, but also a leadership that has vision and a clear agenda programme,” he added.
