KUALA LUMPUR, July 4- The proposal to set up a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to investigate the cyber army known as ‘Red Bean Army’ came from 130 Malay Islamic non-governmental organisations (NGO) nationwide and not the government, Minister in Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim said yesterday.
“Numerous NGOs sent me memorandums on the matter. They want to know to what extent this ‘Red Bean Army’ has a negative impact on the government and nation,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby here.
Shahidan, who received a memorandum from 130 Malay Islamic NGOs yesterday, reportedly said the RCI proposal would be discussed at this Friday’s cabinet meeting.
