PUTRAJAYA, July 13- All quarters concerned should ensure a peaceful by-election for the Kuala Besut state seat, Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid said today.
He said 3,000 security forces have been stationed in the area to ensure the first by-election after the 13th General Election proceeded smoothly without any untoward incidents.
“We expect a lot of supporters from both sides to be there throughout the campaign which ends at midnight July 23. I hope everything goes well,” he told reporters after breaking fast at the ministry here.
On a separate development, Mohd Bakri said the 53-year-old man who died in police custody on July 4 was believed to have had a heart attack.
He said the suspect was in a weak condition after he got into a scuffle with the police while attempting to escape.
