khairyjamaluddin540pxKUALA LUMPUR, July 16- The Umno Youth movement has called for stern action to be taken as soon as possible on the two individuals, Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee who had offended the feelings of Muslims although they had apologised.

Umno Youth head Khairy Jamaluddin said if no action was taken on the two individuals, then others could later say anything and then apologise as a settlement.

“I want to see action being taken on them and this is not the time to take statements. Why wait any longer?

“Anyone who had offended the sensitivity of any religion, not only that of Islam but also the other religions should face action,” he told reporters at a press conference on the Barisan Nasional Youth Job Fair 2013 at Menara Datuk Onn, here yesterday.

Last week, Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee uploaded on a social website a ‘Selamat Berbuka Puasa’ greeting with a picture of a non-halal food, Bak Kut Teh.

Meanwhile, on the statement by the Vatican City Ambassador to Malaysia recently, Khairy urged Wisma Putra to send a protest note to the Vatican government.

“This is a matter of foreign intervention in our affairs and his opinion was of no help at all,” he said.

The open support from the bishop had received strong protest from Muslim groups who described it as being insensitive and most insulting to Muslims and the Malaysian people.

Commenting on the action by the opposition in suing the Election Commission (EC) to seek a declaration that all the 222 parliamentary seats in the general election last May to be null and void, Khairy described it as the final effort by the opposition which had all this while failed to prove that the Barisan Nasional (BN) had purportedly cheated in the last general election.

“The opposition had failed to prove the alleged deception and now they want to take the claim to court,” he said.
