KUALA BESUT, JULY 16- The Kuala Besut by-election campaign that went on smoothly for the past four days in the holy month of Ramadan, was marred by an incident which saw Barisan Nasional (BN) and PAS flags burned, yesterday morning.
Besut police chief Supt Kamaruddin Mohd Zakaria said the Kuala Besut police station was informed at 5.51am yesterday morning that BN and PAS flags at the Kampung Lampu roundabout were set on fire.
Kamaruddin said it was the first such incident reported since the Kuala Besut by-election campaign had started after the nomination of candidates last Friday.
The Kuala Besut by-election will see a straight fight between BN and PAS.
“We are investigating the case but yet to make any arrest,” he told reporters at the Besut police headquarters in Kampung Raja, here, yesterday.
