KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 – DAP chairman Karpal Singh today lodged a police report against Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Tajuddin Abdul Rahman over an alleged seditious remark.
Karpal Singh, accompanied by DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang, lodged the report at about noon at the Tun H.S. Lee police station here.
He urged the police to investigate Tajuddin under the Sedition Act for having allegedly said in Kuala Besut, Terengganu, on July 14 that he (Karpal Singh) could be Malaysia’s first president if Kuala Besut voters allowed the DAP to control Putrajaya through PAS.
The voters of Kuala Besut go to the polls on July 24 in a by-election to elect an assemblyman following the death of their representative, Dr A. Rahman Mokhtar of the Barisan Nasional (BN), on June 26.
The Barisan Nasional (BN) is defending the seat in a straight fight with PAS.
Lim described Tajuddin’s remark as reckless and seditious.
