JULY 18- Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday night met BJP president Rajnath Singh to discuss election campaign-related work allocation and issues on which the party should take on Congress.
Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley was also present in the meeting.
Modi’s meeting with Singh and Jaitley came a day after the chief minister’s one-on-one meeting with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat in Nagpur on Tuesday.
Modi is believed to have discussed the political situation in the country and BJP’s strategy in coming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. He had recently courted controversy over his ‘puppy’ and ‘veil of secularism’ remarks.
Modi became the fourth top BJP leader to visit the Sangh headquarters in the last two weeks.
The BJP will on Thursday hold the meeting of the parliamentary board as the party gears up for 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
Modi is here to attend his third parliamentary board meeting.
The BJP is likely to make announcements about allocation of responsibilities to its general secretaries and office bearers on Thursday after a parliamentary board meeting.
The parliamentary board, the party’s highest decision-making forum, will also discuss BJP’s strategy for the Monsoon Session of Parliament beginning on August 5.
The Food Security Ordinance and the state of the economy are prominent issues that BJP plans to take up in the session.
