KUALA LUMPUR, July 18- CIMB Bank has launched the CIMB Cash Rebate Platinum MasterCard, a credit card that rewards cardmembers for shopping online while offering competitive cash rebate programme for other retail purchases.
In a statement Wednesday, the bank said from now until December 2013, cardmembers will also enjoy rebates of 20 per cent for airline tickets, iTunes and Google Play music, movies and application, as well as, Golden Screen Cinema movie tickets purchased online.
Its Chief Executive Officer/Head of Consumer Banking, Renzo Viegas, said with more people shopping online, the bank wanted to give its cardmembers an easy payment solution that would also reap plenty of savings and rewards for online purchases, as well as, daily spending.
Viegas said according to Euromonitor International, the outlook for the online market looked bright with total online transactions in Malaysia expected to surge past RM1.9 billion by 2016, more than double the RM842 million recorded in 2011.
CIMB Bank said in addition to a two per cent cash rebate on groceries, petrol, mobile and utility bills, cardmembers could earn five per cent cash back on all online spending and enjoy discounts of up to 25 per cent with leading online malls and retailers.
The card offered 10 per cent cash back on monthly interest paid on the outstanding balance, provided that payments were received on time, it said.
