Four NGOs Lodge Police Reports Against Couple Who Allegedly Ridiculed Ramadan

KUANTAN, July 19- Four Kuantan-based, non-governmental organisations (NGO) today lodged police reports against a couple who allegedly ridiculed Islam and the month of Ramadan on Facebook recently.

They were the Malaysian Ex-Policemen’s Association, Pahang Pribumi Perkasa Malaysia, Malaysian Police Veterans Association and Persatuan Anak Muda Timur.

They lodged the reports against Alvin Tan Jye Yee, 25, and Vivian Lee, 24, at the district police headquarters at 2.30pm.

Malaysian Ex-Policemen’s Association secretary Rafai Abd Kadir told reporters the duo’s action could cause racial and religious discord in the country.

Meanwhile, Pahang Pribumi Perkasa information chief Muhammad Faiz Hashim urged the authorities and leaders of political parties in the country to set aside their differences and unite to tackle the issue.
