Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said security forces did not take the rumours lightly and have tightened control of security in Sabah.
“Although I doubt that the letter saying that terrorists will come to unleash violence in Sabah is real, we still investigate its origin.
“The people of Sabah need not worry and do not listen to rumours. Security forces are always on alert and have enough officers, men and equipment that can be optised,” he told reporters after visiting Insp Farid Hasni Mamat, 33, who lost his right leg to an accident in Kuala Besut at Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital, Kubang Kerian here.
Ahmad Zahid said security cooperation with the Philippines remained close to ensure that the movement into Sabah was closely monitored.
