JULY 24- A Mumbai sessions court on Wednesday framed charges of culpable homicide against actor Salman Khan in the 2002 hit-and-run case. The actor pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The case saw a bizarre turn with the magistrate saying he got his transfer orders this morning and would not be hearing the case.
The magistrate exempted 47-year-old Salman from daily appearances but said he should be present in court when required without any ifs and buts.
Salman’s lawyer had asked the court for the exemption till mid-September as he has to travel abroad for shooting films. Though the public prosecutor opposed it, the court granted the exemption.
The prosecution lawyers also said the charges should be filed on Wednesday since they cannot be framed in the absence of the accused following which the charges were framed.
