JULY 24- Jayalalithaa’s ruling AIADMK is likely to win the most number of Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu while the BJP will lose its seats in Karnataka in the next general elections, an opinion poll has said.
The ruling Congress will also face defeat in many seats in Andhra Pradesh with the party still undecided on carving out a separate Telangana state, it said.
According to an opinion poll by the Centre for Study of Developing Society (CSDS) and a private English news channel, the AIADMK may win 16 to 20 seats while the Congress-DMK combine may bag nine to 17 seats.
Many of the prospective voters interviewed “justified” Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s decision of not allowing Sri Lankan cricketers to participate in IPL matches in the state.
In Karnataka, the Congress is likely to repeat its success in the assembly polls in the general elections polls and may bag 18 to 22 seats.
B.S. Yeddyurappa’s Karnataka Janata Paksha (KJP) is not likely to pose a threat to either the BJP or the Congress.
In Andhra Pradesh, the poll said, the Telangana issue and the rise of YSR Congress Party will affect the ruling Congress’ chances.
As many as 55 per cent of the prospective voters interviewed said they would decide on which party to vote for after the Central government cleared its stand on Telangana.
The Congress is likely to see its tally drop from 33 seats to 11 to 15 seats while YSR Congress could win over 11 seats.
The TDP may win six to 10 seats while the TRS five to nine.
