KOTA KINABALU, July 31- Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Datuk Hasan Malek has assured the Sabah government that the diesel shortage in the state has ended.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said he has voiced his concern over the matter as the shortage caused great inconvenience to the people.
“The minister in charge has informed me that the supply of diesel in the state is back to normal, with the additional quote of 24.196 million litres approved nationwide and nine million litres for Sabah,” he said in a statement after a brief meeting with Hasan here today.
In light of the situation, Musa advised petrol station owners to abide by existing laws and not succumb to greed by selling subsidised diesel to non-eligible customers such as factories and heavy industries.
Musa also asked Hasan to ensure that there will be sufficient supply of essential items including beef, chicken, eggs and other food items for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.
“We want to make sure there will be enough supply of essential items for the festive season.
“We also hope the relevant ministry will monitor the prices of such items and not allow unscrupulous traders to hike prices and take advantage of the rising demand,” he added.
