PTJ00_160108_ASAS TAN1KANGAR, Feb 7- Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin wants the people to give Barisan Nasional (BN) the mandate during the 13th General Election to bring about systematic changes and ensure growth in various sectors to enhance the income of the people and country. Muhyiddin said the government has carried out various initiatives and transformation programmes successfully for the benefit of the people and such efforts would continue if BN was given the mandate to continue administering the country to bring about rapid development.

“This visit (to Perlis) is very special and meaningful in enhancing our spirit to strive better.

“The year 2013 has started and we are in a very critical period to carry out our duties and responsibilities, namely leaders, heads of departments and party members, to ensure that the transformation process that started a few years ago, continues successfully,” he said when speaking to BN component party leaders, heads of departments and agencies at Kompleks Dewan Undangan Negeri here.

He was later briefed on the state BN’s preparations for the General Election by BN Perlis secretary, Datuk Mat Rawi Kassim. Muhyiddin who is also Umno Deputy President said during his visit to Perlis today, he had seen the fruits of efforts carried out to develop Perlis and initiatives to serve the people better. The impact of such efforts has brought about positive changes to improve the living conditions of the people in Perlis and it is the responsibility of the government to see the momentum continue so as to fulfill the aspirations of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

“The Prime Minister’s aim is to touch the hearts of all Malaysians, including the Malays, Chinese, Indians, Orang Asli, Malaysia-Siamese and other races who live in rural or urban areas,” he said. Muhyiddin said Perlis, though a small state, can progress through the implementation of various projects, infrastructure, business ventures and foreign investment. “For all efforts to be successful, we need stable, efficient and strong administration. If not for BN’s policies, it is not possible for the country to succeed. If we did not administer the country well, the young would have no opportunities to succeed,” he said.
