AUG.1 -It seems BJP’s campaign committee chairman Narendra Modi is taking his ‘Sadbhavna’ mission to cyberspace too. Modi also started posting twitter messages in Urdu, significantly on a day when the creation of a separate Telangana state was announced.
Interestingly, the Jamat-e-Islami Hind in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha issued a statement on Wednesday demanding that Urdu be made an official language in the new state along with Telugu since a sizeable population speaks Urdu.
While Modi, in his first Urdu tweet, expressed his opinion on the role of social media in ushering in a change, one of his subsequent posts contained a link to his letter written to the people of Andhra Pradesh after the announcement of Telangana. Modi’s Urdu twitter handle is being followed by 80 people and had nine tweets.
Interestingly, he also launched a twitter handle in Sanskrit on Wednesday. Apart from his regular twitter handle in English, Modi is now reaching out to his followers in 10 other languages including Assamese, Bangla, Odia, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Urdu and Sanskrit.
The Sanskrit handle has generated a better response and is already being followed by 257 people and had 10 tweets.
