GEORGE TOWN, Aug 2 – Aidilfitri is not complete without ‘Kuih Raya’ or cookies and biscuits which are served by Muslims during the festive season.
Bernama found the vicinity of Kompleks Tun Abdul Razak (Komtar) here crowded with not only Muslim customers stocking up for Aidilfitri but also Chinese and Indians.
“Every year we get many Chinese and Indian customers apart from our usual crowd of Muslims,” said Erisya Cookies’ stall owner Azhani.
“They don’t just buy one jar of cookies but up to four, containing hundreds of pieces,” she said when met here.
Meanwhile, P.Sashee, 22, said she spent nearly RM100 at Norzakiah’s stall.
“This is my yearly routine. I buy them for my family and Malay friends,” she added.
Another customer Chong Ngee San, 40, said his family has always enjoyed Raya goodies and he came here every year.
“Aidilfitri is one of the festive seasons I like as we get to eat these cookies and I normally buy a lot,” he said.
