KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 3- The police are urging the son of Arab- Malaysian bank founder Hussain Ahmad Najadi to come forward to assist investigations into the assasination of his father.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohmad Salleh said Pascal Najadi (photo), who is currently in Russia, should not be making statements, claims or denials through any medium regarding the murder of his father.
“As such, we want him to come to Malaysia to talk to us. That would be better.
“As he is not in the country, he will not have an accurate picture,” he said after checking on the Ops Selamat road safety operation in conjunction with the Aidifitri festive season at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman here tonight.
Also present were city public order chief ACP Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid and CID chief Datuk Ku Chin Wah.
On Monday, Hussain, 75, was shot dead while his wife Chong Mei Kuen, 49, was injured after being shot from close range, believed to be by a hired hitman, while they were walking to their car after discussing a property deal at a Chinese temple in Lorong Ceylon here.
Yesterday, Pascal was reported to have claimed that his father’s murder was pre-meditated and there was no property deal involved.
He also said that he would not come to Malaysia until the suspect or suspects were caught.
Meanwhile, Mohmad said police believed the assailant was still in the country.
“We are still tracking him down. Definitely there are people who know him. If you have any information channel it to the nearest police station,” he said, adding that police were confident of solving the case very soon.
