PUTRAJAYA, Aug 3- The people have until end of this month to voice their views or submit constructive proposals to be considered for inclusion in Budget 2014, Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan said.
He said suitable proposals would be considered by the government to be incorporated in the budget to be tabled on Oct 25.
“The people can use all the available mediums to air their views and present their suggestions to the ministry via letters, email or visit the ministry’s website or the official facebook of the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak,” he told the media after chairing the focus group’s meeting entitled “Increasing and Retaining Women’s Involvement in the Employment Sector”.
Ahmad said the meeting, which covered 15 main topics, is being held in staggered sessions. Interest groups from the public and private sectors as well as non-governmental organisations are attending the sessions.
Earlier, in his opening remarks, Ahmad said the 10th Malaysia Plan has set a target to increase women’s participation in the labour force to 55 per cent by 2015; (2012: 49.5 per cent).
“Under the New Economic Model, as part of the Strategic Reform Initiative on Human Capital Development, a roadmap to leverage on women’s talents was developed, outlining measures targeted at all levels of women’s career development.
“This include a minimum target of 30 per cent of women in decision-making positions in the corporate sector by 2016, an initiative to increase the number of child care centres, tailored internships and job placement opportunities for women.
