MUAR, Aug 19- – Umno Youth vice-chief Datuk Razali Ibrahim yesterday denied he would contest for the party’s vice-president post at the Umno election this October.
He said rumours saying that he would vie for the post was made by certain quarters following his decision to defer making an announcement on whether he would contest for post in the Umno election.
“It is not the time yet for me to contest the post and it never crosses my mind,” he told a media conference after the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of a St John Ambulance Malaysia building here Sunday. Razali, who is Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, however, said he was willing to consider contesting for one of the posts in the Umno supreme council.
So far, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman had expressed his intention to vie for the Umno vice-presidency, while former Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam and former Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad had hinted their intention to contest the post.
