KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22- Communication and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek conveyed his condolences to the families of the victims killed in the express bus which plunged into a ravine in Genting Highlands.
“My heartfelt condolences to the victim’s families. I feel great sadness over this afternoon’s tragedy,” he said on TV1’s live Dialog programme.
He also thanked the rescue teams, police and medical personnel who worked tirelessly to help the victims.
Ahmad Shabery said the media’s fast coverage on the mishap managed to unite Malaysians so that they could pray for the victims and assist where needed.
The accident claimed 37 lives, including the bus driver, at KM3.6 of Jalan Genting Highlands when the bus carrying 53 passengers plunged into a 60-metre ravine on its way down from Genting Highlands to the city.
