KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 23- The bus tragedy that claimed the lives of 37 people at KM3.5 Jalan Genting Highlands yesterday had not deterred domestic and foreign tourists from reaching the popular entertainment resort by bus.
The bus fare is considerably cheaper than taxi fare, at RM5.90 for adults and RM3 for children.
“The incident should remind bus drivers and transport companies to be more conscientious,” he said.
Local holidaymaker Wong, 50, had no qualms about hopping on the bus with her friends and head to the resort today.
“Going by bus is cheaper. If we go in a taxi we have to pay RM20 each. I also don’t want to lose the deposit on my hotel,” she said, adding, they had planned the trip for a long time.
Genting Theme Park employee Sahur Asmuri, 29, said the bus was a flexible mode of transport for him.
“I use the bus twice a week. Passengers do not have to wait too long as there is a bus every half an hour, from 7 am until 9.30 pm. There are seven buses making 32 return trips daily,” he said.
