SINGAPORE, Aug 23 – Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has conveyed his condolences to his Malaysian counterpart, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on the bus accident in Genting Highlands on Wednesday.
In his condolence letter released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lee said: “I was deeply saddened to learn of the tragic bus accident near Genting Highlands. It is unfortunate that a trip to Genting for leisure ended up taking so many innocent lives.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Singapore, I express our sincere condolences to you, the families of the victims and the people of Malaysia on your terrible loss. I wish the injured a full and speedy recovery.
Our thoughts are with you and your people during your time of grief,” he said with deepest sympathies.
On Wednesday afternoon, an express bus plunged 60 metres into a ravine at KM3.5 Genting Highlands.
This was the worst crash to have occurred in the area in the past 17 years which killed 37 people and injured 16 others.
