Zahid-Hamidi1BAGAN DATOH, Aug 24- A massive operation will be carried out from Sept 1 against foreign workers without valid permit, Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said yesterday.

He said the operation would involve the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and other enforcement agencies under the ministry.

“We do not want employers to employ foreign workers without permit,” he told reporters after an Aidilfitri programme here today.

He said the programme would be conducted to ensure compliance with the law and regulations by foreign workers in the country.

“At the same time, we also want to see that employers provide housing and medical facilities, as well as look after the welfare, of their workers.

In another development, Ahmad Zahid said police were always on standby and ready to face threats or attacks by any quarters.

He said this in response to rumours on several secret societies planning to launch an attack on PDRM following the shooting of five hired killers by the police in Penang last Monday.
