AUG 27- Congress President Sonia Gandhi was discharged from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) hospital at around 1:30 am on Tuesday after she was admitted for nearly five hours.

“Mrs Gandhi had cold and a headache. She had a medicine and started feeling uneasy in Parliament. She came here, we conducted tests… everything is normal. She has left for home in her own car,” AIIMS director RC Deka said.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi was taken to AIIMS after she complained of uneasiness in the Lok Sabha. Sonia left the lower House at around 8.55 pm, as voting on her pet project Food Security Bill was going on.

Moreover, Sonia Gandhi left after completing her speech in the Lok Sabha and came back only in the evening around 7 pm, to vote on the Bill.

However, in the midst of voting, she started getting shivers and indicated this to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath. She was shivering and seen visibly stumbling while coming out of the House. Minister for Culture Kumari Selja was seen supporting her and carrying her bag while escorting her to the car outside gate no 4 of Parliament. Sources indicate that she also threw up in the gallery of the House while coming out.

The UPA chairperson is also an asthma patient, said Headlines Today National Affairs Editor Javed Ansari.

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi also accompanied her in the vehicle to AIIMS. She was directly taken to the Cardio Neuro Centre of AIIMs where the doctors did an Electro Cardio Gram (ECG), which was reported to be clear. She also complained of chest pain — doctors told her it is because of a gastric problem.
“She had a reaction of a medicine which didn’t suit her and that was the reason for the problem. She is doing perfectly fine and has appealed to everyone to go home,” said Janardan Dwivedi after coming out from the hospital.

“She is perfectly fine,” said Congress media secretary Priya Dutt.

As soon as Sonia Gandhi left, Congress leaders made a beeline to register their presence at the hospital. Senior leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Mohsina Kidwai were the first ones to reach the hospital.

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was next. Robert Vadra also came and left after staying there for around 20 minutes.

Shiela Dixit, Janardan Dwivedi, Vyalar Ravi, and Renuka Choudhary were among the other visitors.

However, doctors advised them not to visit the hospital as Sonia Gandhi was advised rest. As a precautionary measure she will be in the hospital for the night.

Meanwhile, opposition leaders have also been sending speedy recovery wishes to the UPA chairperson.

Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain took to Twitter to send their meassages, while BJP chief Rajnath Singh called up Rahul Gandhi to inquire about his mother’s health.
