Salang Is Now Chairman Of Sarawak 1Malaysia Advisory Council

SIBU, Aug 27 – Former deputy information, communication and multimedia minister Datuk Joseph Salang Gandum (photo) is now chairman of the Sarawak 1Malaysia Advisory Council which reports directly to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

josephsalangSalang, the Julau member of parliament, had, after the recent 13th General Election, declined his new cabinet appointment as tourism and culture deputy minister.

He told Bernama here Monday that he was appointed to the position, beginning last month.

He said the council’s other key members were Masing Gading Member of Parliament Anthony Nogeh (representing the Bidayuh Community), former Hulu Rajang member of parliament Datuk Billy Abit Joo (the Orang Ulu/Penan) and Limbang Member of Parliament Hasbi Hasbullah (Malay).

“Others are Satok Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) party Youth Chief Irwan Zulkarnain Hasbi who represents the youth in the state while the secretary is Rosemary Philip Ranggu.

“Our main task is to identify and recommend some of the projects statewide which we think have good political impact and will greatly benefit the people.

“We also implement the corporate social responsibility of the 1Malaysia Development Board,” added Salang.
