BUENOS AIRES, Sept 5 – Toyota Motor Corp. intends to become sponsor of the 2020 Summer Olympics if Tokyo is chosen as host, Japanese news agency Jiji Press reported.
“I am sure that if the Olympics takes place in Tokyo in 2020, Toyota will be the first to become a sponsor,” said the automaker honorary chairman Fujio Cho at a press conference held by the Tokyo 2020 Bid Committee in the Argentine capital on Wednesday.
“Toyota believes in the power of sports,” Cho added.
Tokyo is vying with Istanbul and Madrid in the race to host the 2020 Games.
The International Olympic Committee (ICC) is set to choose the host city at its general meeting here on Saturday.
