KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 6- Hong Leong Bank Cambodia Plc, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hong Leong Bank Bhd Malaysia, opened its first banking operations in Phnom Penh, allowing it to serve business and retail customers there.
Hong Leong Bank Group Managing Director Tan Kong Khoon said the group would leverage its knowledge and expertise in the region and share the best practices that it had developed from the more than 100 years of banking experience in Malaysia.
“We are here to stay and committed to growing and contributing to the banking sector in Cambodia as well as its broader economy,” he said in a statement on Thursday.
Hong Leong Bank Cambodia, which was opened last month, will cement Hong Leong Bank’s legacy of meeting the evolving needs of customers and offering them a broad range of banking and specialised financial services in that country.
The bank will be rolling out six highly relevant banking products — savings account, current account, remittance and basic treasury facilities, along with business and mortgage loans.
Meanwhile, Hong Leong Bank Cambodia Chief Executive Officer Joe Farrugia said the bank would be able to provide the Cambodian community easy access to banking services that are progressive, relevant, bespoke and efficient.
“We want our customers in Cambodia to grow with us as we continue to expand our offerings, helping them with their financial needs,” he said.
