SEPT 18- Veteran BJP leader L.K. Advani finally seems to have fallen in line after initially objecting to the anointment of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as the party’s prime ministerial candidate.
Addressing a rally in Chhattisgarh’s Korba, Advani said on Monday that he was happy that Modi has been made the PM candidate.
Praising Modi for development of Gujarat, the BJP patriarch said the chief minister has done a lot of work in rural areas and he has brought about a lot of developments in the state. He ensured that electricity reaches all small towns and villages of the state, Advani said.
The former deputy prime minister praised Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh, saying he was also doing the same in his state as Modi.
Advani’s statement comes as a relief to the party as he had been sulking for the last few days over Modi’s elevation in the party and it was for the first time that he was speaking after Modi was made the PM candidate on Friday.
Advani had boycotted the BJP’s parliamentary board meeting on Friday, saying he was “anguished” over the developments in the party and was “disappointed” by the way party chief Rajnath Singh functioned.
