JOHOR BAHARU, Feb 9 – Pasir Gudang Barisan Nasional (BN) hopes to resolve several pending issues in parliament in relation to facing the upcoming general election.

The division’s chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the two main demands from the voters in the area were the rights to own land in 10 squatter villages there and the setting up of a school in Taman Scientex.

MOHAMED KHALED NORDIN“I met with Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman recently and he has assured that the state government will be making a decision on the land matter. We hope it’ll be good news as the residents are looking forward to it,” he told reporters after attending a Pasir Gudang parliamentary constituency Ponggal festival celebration, here yesterday.

Mohamed Khaled, who is Higher Education Minister, said the proposal for the primary and secondary schools in Taman Scientex is at the final stage with the central government and hoped Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin
would announce some good news when he visits Pasir Gudang, scheduled for early next month.

He added that the 36 polling district centres in the constituency were also being monitored by the party and preparations were being made to distribute the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) to the 36,000 eligible recipients there.
