KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 9- The body of Claudia Theophilus, Al-Jazeera news portal’s English editor, who was accidentally shot dead in Lebanon last Saturday, is expected to arrive at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport at
9.15 tonight.
In a statement here today, Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman said the late editor’s remains was being brought home by her family with the help of the Malaysian Embassy in Beirut and Umno Youth Community Complaints Bureau.
“The late Claudia’s sister Dora Theophilus, 36, a family friend and two Umno Youth representatives have been in Lebanon since Feb 5,” he said.
He also conveyed the Ministry’s condolences to her family. Last Saturday, Claudia, 42, who was based in Al-Jazeera’s Doha, Qatar office, was accidentally shot dead about 2.30 am Lebanon time, while on holiday with her two friends at the Baakleen mountains.
