PPP Reduces Size Of Supreme Council

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28- The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) has decided to reduce the size of its supreme council from 45 members to around 35 to 37 members.

KayveasIts president Datuk Seri M. Kayveas said the decision was taken at a meeting of the council today in the interest of have a “size that was more practical”.

“The strategy is to have quality rather than quantity as some of the (supreme council) members are not proactive and are just mere passengers,” he told reporters after the meeting.

On other developments, he said the meeting also decided to streamline the term of office for state office bearers from three years to five years, just like the central level.

He added that PPP would hold its national congress on Dec 8 or 15 which would also see amendments made to the party constitution.

Meanwhile, in KUCHING, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) senior vice-president I Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB)told reporters that the party had set Oct 14 as the deadline for submission of nominations for posts in its Central Executive Committee and Oct 11 for posts in the Youth and Wanita wings.

“The polls will be held during PBB’s convention which will be held at the Borneo Convention Centre here from Oct 18 to 22,” he said.

He said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is also Barisan Nasional chairman, was scheduled to open the convention obn Oct 21.
