Melaka, Oct 28 – Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd (ASNB) now has 11.65 million account holders who subscribed to the company’s nine products with an average investment of 14,720 units each.
Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) President and Chief Executive Tan Sri Hamad Kama Piah Che Othman said the increase in the number of account holders was encouraging compared with 7.26 million account holders with an average investment of 4,000 units each in 1999.
He said for the first nine months of this year, ASNB attracted 400,000 new account holders subscribing for its various products namely Amanah Saham Bumiputera, Amanah Saham Wawasan 2020, Amanah Saham Malaysia, Amanah Saham Didik and Amanah Saham 1Malaysia.
Its other four products are Amanah Saham Nasional, Amanah Saham Nasional 2, Amanah Saham Nasional 3 and Amanah Saham Gemilang.
“This is a huge success considering the intense competition in the last decade with more products introduced by other unit trust companies comprising 600 products from 40 companies,” he said.
He said this during his speech at the launch of ASNB inheritance planning services at the state level by Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron in Ayer Keroh here today.
Hamad Kama Piah said PNB now manages funds worth about RM255 billion, taking into account the unit trust funds managed by PNB as well as assets and PNB’s own funds.
He said the funds allowed PNB to have interests in more than 200 listed companies on Bursa Malaysia and non-listed companies spanning various sectors of the economy which are seen as strategic and have potential for future growth.
