Najib Witnesses Signing Of Pacts Worth RM2.26 Billion At WIEF

London, Oct 31 – A total of seven memorandum of understandings and agreements worth US$720 million (about RM2.26 billion) were signed on the second day of the 9th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF).

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak witnessed the exchange of documents comprising potential joint ventures, leasing purchase agreement as well as healthcare services.

BAE Systems PLC, one of the four contenders for Malaysia’s MIG-29N Replacement Programme, will partner with NanoMalaysia Bhd and ISIS Innovation Ltd to explore the possibility in setting up a technology prototyping and development centre in Malaysia.

The agreement, which was valued at US$21 million (RM65 million), would see these parties working together to establish a framework pursuant to the centre.

Meanwhile, Clixster Mobile, National Co-Operative Organisation of Malaysia (Angkasa) and Hi-P International would collaborate to develop, manufacture and market Android smartphones with Islamic contents and applications.

The agreement, which was valued at RM1 billion, aimed to produce a Malaysian product to serve Muslim countries and communities.

KFM Holdings Sdn Bhd, a solutions provider for the built environment, will partner with YDA Insaat Sanayi Ve Ticaret AS to develop three state-of-the-art healthcare facilities in Turkey.

The project, which is a public-private partnership valued at US$250 million, would see the two parties develop healthcare facilities for the Ministry of Health, namely Kayseri Integrated Health Campus, Konya Integrated Health Campus and Manisa Education and Research Hospital.

The world’s biggest plantation company, Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd, is partnering with Cambridge Nanosystems Ltd in its bid to become the world’s first to produce high-grade carbon nanotubes from crude palm oil waste.

This involve a proposed equity acquisition in Cambridge Nanosystems Ltd worth RM85 million.

Other than that, ACMS Trent Park Sdn Bhd signed an agreement with Exim Bank Malaysia on financing involving US$96 million investment in 8.42 hectares and more than 20 buildings.

In July this year, ACMS Trent Park acquired the Trent Park Campus in North London from the Middlesex University, which is the first offshore campus for Allianze University College of Medical Sciences.
