London, Oct 31 – Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak will only decide on the post of Transport Minister, which has yet to be filled, after the annual general meeting (AGM) of the MCA in December.
“Whatever it is, we wait for the AGM first. What is the decision to be made at the MCA annual general meeting to be held in December. Subsequently, I will make a decision,” he told Malaysian reporters here.
The Prime Minister is here on a five-day working visit beginning Oct 27 to attend the Ninth World Islamic Economic Forum that will conclude today.
Najib, who is also the Umno president and Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, was asked to comment of the decision of the MCA recently that refused to accept any Cabinet post following its severe defeat in the 13th general election.
On Oct 20, a special meeting of the MCA had decided to maintain the resolution.
However, the BN component party passed the motion that the MCA accept the post of Senatorship and any post in the Federal and State government, including Executive council (Exco).
Currently, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein is also acting as the Transport Minister.
