Kuala Lumpur, Nov 4 – Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has been top ranked for “Electric Utilities in Asia” in the coveted Platts Top 250 Global Energy Company Rankings for 2013.
The national utility corporation also took 15th spot in Asia in terms of “Overall Performance” in the rankings, announced at the Platts Top 250 Asia Awards Dinner held in Singapore earlier this week.
The annual financial performance rankings started 12 years ago. New York headquartered Platts is a leading global commodity information provider.
The top ranking is a major improvement in comparison to 2011, where it took the third spot for “Electric Utilities in Asia”, TNB said in a statement Sunday.
Mirroring other elite Asian companies that moved up in the rankings, TNB’s global ranking surged to the 66th position from 90th in 2011.
The statement said the Platts Top 250 Global Energy Company Rankings are based on assets, revenue, profits and return on investments for the previous fiscal year.
TNB’s Chief Corporate Officer, Datuk Roslan Rahman represented the company’s President/Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Seri Azman Mohd in receiving the award in the presence of the Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili.
“This award is dedicated to all our employees, wherever they are, for making this company a pride of the nation,” said Roslan.
