Kuching, Nov 12 – Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) has formed a special committee to produce a book on the party’s history and struggles since its existence 50 years ago.
Its senior vice-president Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said today the setting up of the committee had been discussed and agreed upon at the party’s triennial conference, here, recently.
Speaking to reporters after the Tinta Kenyalang awards presentation organised by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) here, he said the struggles of the PBB leaders and their biodata would be included in the book.
He was commenting on the lack of reference books on PBB, the biggest component party in Sarawak Barisan Nasional.
Earlier, in his speech, Awang Tengah who is also state Resource Planning and Environment Minister II, said writers in Sarawak needed to include the government’s current development plans in their writings in efforts to create an industrial community in the state.
At the function where 10 awards were given out, Awang Tengah also announced a state government contribution of RM40,000 for the awards programme.
Also present was DBP director-general Datuk Dr Awang Sariyan.
