Chennai, Nov 14- Ajith’s latest film Arrambam, which released on 31st October (two days ahead of Deepavali on 2nd November) is going great guns at all the screens abroad from South East Asia to Australia to the far-away England.
Reviews in journals about the film are going ga-ga over Ajith’s ‘salt-and-pepper’ look with veteran actress Khushboo even describing Ajith as the George Clooney of Tamil films. The theatrical collections of the film in U.S. is said to be ranking fifth after superstar Rajinikanth Endhiran, Shivaji ,Kamal Haasan Vishwaroopam and Vijay’s Thuppakki. The film is doing very well in all the halls in Tamil Nadu too.
Trade circles say that the film had collected Rs.55 crores in India in its 11 day runits first week itself. With ‘word-of-mouth’ about the film spreading fast the film has touched the 75 crore mark, it is expected that the collections to keep coming in the days to come.
Like some Bollywood films, Arrambam might soon cross the Rs.100 crore mark (world wide) as theatrical collections, it is predicted. In Malaysia, which has a huge Tamil populace, the film released in 80 screens and collected a whopping Rs.5 crore in its opening weekend and the collection till second weekend stands at 8.7 crores.
In Singapore the Film has managed to collect SG$575,335 ( 2.88 Cr)
In U.S., as reported earlier, Arrambam has been drawing huge crowds to screens and has been doing very well till last week, the film . The film’s showing is compared to the huge collections witnessed during the release of Rajini’s Sivaji: The Boss and Enthiran: The Robot and Kamal Haasan’s Dasavatharam.
In London and other parts of England too, Arrambam continues to rock at the box-office with a collection of 1.8 cr.
These collections are the best figures for Ajith in the overseas market.
