Mumbai, Nov 19 – School students in the West Indian state of Maharashtra will soon have opportunity to learn about ‘God of cricket’ Sachin Tendulkar as part of their curriculum activities in the next academic year,Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.
“The government is considering adding Tendulkar in the school syllabus so that children are inspired by him. We are holding a meeting next week to discuss the issue,” School Education Minister Rajendra Darda said.
Rajendara said the government is yet to decide which level of students would get to study about Tendulkar.
“These things are to be finalised. However, one thing is certain, from June (beginning of next academic year) students will have a lesson on Tendulkar,” he said.
This is not the first time that students in Maharashtra are required to study the life history of a cricketer as part of their syllabus.
Former cricketers Chandrakant Gulabrao ‘Chandu’ Borde and ‘little master’ Sunil Gavaskar have been included in the state’s school syllabus.
