New Delhi, Nov 30 – Indian authorities said Friday security has been stepped up along the border with Bangladesh in the wake of political uncertainty in the country, Xinhua news agency reported.
“We have asked our soldiers to keep a close watch on the border situation. Our men remain vigilant round-the-clock along the borders especially where a large number of people reside across the border,” India’s Border Security Force’s official Bhaskar Rawat told reporters.
Once the assembly elections in five Indian states are over, border guards on poll duties will be re-deployed along the sensitive borders.
India shares a 4,000-km border with Bangladesh in the east and northeast.
