Johannesburg, Dec 4 – A new book detailing anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela’s life was released in South Africa on Tuesday, Xinhua news agency reported.
“His spirit is very, very strong, even if Mandela is sick on his bed. The story of his life has to be repeated and told over and over again,” said Mandela’s daughter Makaziwe Mandela when addressing the book launching ceremony in Johannesburg.
The book chronicles the life and times of Mandela.
Many dignities attended the launching ceremony in Johannesburg, including Mandela’s wife Graca Machel and Minister of Public Service and Administration Lindiwe Sisulu.
Sisulu said in his speech at the event that the government will make history education compulsory in all schools so that “children always understand who we are and what we have been through.”
Mandela, 95, is continuing to fight a recurring lung infection at his home in Johannesburg after being discharged from a Pretoria hosptial on Sept 1.
