Kuala Lumpur, December 4 – Umno Youth head Khairy Jamaluddin has hinted that this could be his last term as the leader of the movement.
“Certainly sounds like it. I won’t be here forever. I’m already 37,” he said at a press conference after delivering his policy speech at the Umno Youth General Assembly 2013, here today.
However, he said, it was too early to discuss his successor.
Khairy said Umno Youth must prepare for a platform to provide a lineup for young leaders.
“If we don’t start now, when will we be able to get leaders who are in their 20’s, young professionals, young ulama or give an opportunity to the undergraduates to speak at the general assembly,” he said.
The Youth and Sports Minister, who was also asked on a discussion between PAS and Umno, said Umno Youth left the matter to the top party leadership.
“From Pemuda, we want to see this muzakarah happen but we leave it to the party leadership to decide,” Khairy said.
