New Delhi, Jan 8 – Rumors of ruling Congress party chief Sonia Gandhi’s daughter Priyanka taking on an active political role in the upcoming general elections are doing the rounds, after she attended a crucial party meeting, along with her brother Rahul Gandhi, in the national capital Tuesday.
Xinhua news agency reported sources as saying that Priyanka participated in the meeting where senior Congress leaders were discussing party strategies with Nehru-Gandhi scion Rahul Gandhi, who is also the second-in-command of the political outfit as well as the potential prime ministerial candidate for Congress in elections slated for May 2014.
The 41-year-old granddaughter of India’s first woman Prime Minister Indira Gandhi has so far kept away from active politics.
However, there has been no official confirmation from the Congress party.
