Kuala Lumpur, Jan 16 – Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) is targeting to sell 197,000 units of all its models in 2014.
This is an addition of 900 units when compared with the 196,100 units sold in 2013.
Its President and Chief Executive Office Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh said the modest 0.2 per cent grow target was due to the car manufacturer’s new plant which had just begun operations and needed time to adjust.
“We anticipate a market share of about 30 per cent from the estimated total industry volume of 653,800 units last year, making Perodua the most preferred automotive company for eight years in a row.
“A total of 103,000 units of the Perodua S-Series were sold since its launch last March, representing 52.5 per cent of its total sales in 2013,” he told reporters at the announcement of Perodua’s 2013 full-year financial performance here today.
On the company’s after sales business, Aminar Rashid said that its service operations recorded an increased of 5.0 per cent to 1.87 million vehicles visiting its service centres against 1.79 million vehicles in 2012.
