Speaking to reporters at the party headquarters here after the first Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting today, since the party election last year, Palanivel said the service centre and welfare committee would be headed by Senator A. Sivabakiam while the economic and business committee would be led by Datuk R. Ragu Moorthy.

K. P. Samy will head the cultural committee; Datuk G. Kumaar Aamaan (green technology and environmental commitee) and Datuk V. Subramaniam (branch and membership committee).

The constitution amendments committee will have five members, namely M. Selva Kumar, Datuk S. Murugesan, Datuk Siva Paranjothi, Datuk R. Ganesan and M. Karuppanan.

The Yayasan Strategik Sosial Committee will be headed by Datuk Randhir Singh while the sports committee will be led by party vice-president and Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, Datuk M. Saravanan.

On allegations pertaining to election irregularities in the Nov 30 and Dec 1 party elections held in Melaka, Palanivel replied that the newly-announced disciplinary sub-committee would look into the matter.

“Those who complained to the Registrar of Societies, it is their right to do so,” he said.

Meanwhile, Saravanan, at another press conference, said the MIC CWC had accepted the Nov 30 and Dec 1 party election results and urged all members to abide by the decision.

On his appointment to lead the party’s sports sub-committee, he regarded the  appointment as an important responsibility.

RM 5,000 reward for those who can expose “Man Namblast”

At a separate media conference, MIC Youth chief C. Sivaraajh offered a RM5,000 reward to those who could give details of the owner of Man Namblast Facebook account.

“Earlier today, we met the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). MCMC said it did not have much information on Man Namblast. So, we request the public to offer information such as the real name and house address to assist MCMC and the police,” he added.

Earlier, media reports said a Facebook account owner going by the name, Man Namblast had put up a posting that touched on Hindu religious sensitivities during the recent Thaipusam celebrations last month.

Sivaraajh said MIC Youth viewed such incidents as a threat to national unity and hoped it would not recur.

As of today, there were 490 police reports lodged against Man Namblast by various parties, including non-governmental organisations nationwide, he added.
