June 23 Hearing For Indonesian Security Guard Accused Of Shooting Dead AmBank Officer

Shah Alam, Feb 27- The High Court here yesterday reserved five days, from June 23 to hear the case involving an Indonesian security guard accused of shooting dead a Subang Jaya Ambank officer last October.

Justice Datuk Akhtar Tahir also set May 7 for case management.

La Ode Ardi Rasila, 37, allegedly murdered Norazita Abu Talib, 37, at No 5 and 7, Ambank building in Jalan USJ Sentral 2, Subang Jaya near here between 6 pm and 6.30 pm on Oct 23, 2013.

He faces the mandatory death sentence under Section 302 of the Penal Code, if convicted.

The accused who was represented by counsel S.Selvi also faces a second charge of robbing and shooting Norazita with a pump gun to intentionally kill her, at the same place and time.

The charge under Section 3 of the Firearms Act (Increased Penalties) 1971, carries the death penalty upon conviction.

Both charges were read to La Ode by an Indonesian interpreter from the Federal Court, Made Jakfar Abdullah.

Selangor prosecution chief Mohd Azari Harun who would be assisted by deputy public prosecutor Muhamad Asyraf Md Kamal in the case, said 25 witnesses would be called during the hearing.

The media had earlier reported that Norazita was shot dead by a security guard based at the bank while she was opening a safe inside the bank’s strongroom.

The culprit was also reported to have fled with RM450,000 in the incident.
