New Dehli, Feb 27- External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid has defended himself against charges that he sought to hit Narendra Modi below the belt by calling him “Napunsak”. “In Hindi the word is also used to describe somebody who is incompetent. Modi proved to be incompetent in preventing Godhra and its aftermath said the Minister in an exclusive interview to Headlines Today.

Salman Khurshid’s napunsak remark was made yesterday. It kicked off a storm with the BJP terming a “real low”. Khurshid defended himself against charges and blamed his opponents of trying to derive a “perverted meaning from the term. They need to brush up their Hindi” he said.

The external affairs minister also made light of BJP president Rajnath Singh’s attempt to reach out to the Muslims by apologising. “He should first apologise for naming Modi as his candidate. He should also tell us the mistakes they made for which he is apologising. The man responsible for all this must apologise to the nation for causing misery and loss of life to so many innocent Indians.”
