New Delhi, Feb 27 – The Supreme Court today stayed the Tamil Nadu government’s decision to release four convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. The convicts are Nalini, Robert Pious, Jayakumar and Ravichandran.
The court has also issued notice to the Tamil Nadu government and the four prisoners.
An apex court bench headed by Chief Justice P. Sathasivam directed that the central government’s plea would be heard on March 6.
The order comes on a review plea filed by the Central government against the decision of the Jayalalithaa government to set free all seven convicts in the case.
The apex court had last week asked stayed the release of Murugan, Santhan and Perarivalan, the three convicts whose death penalty was commuted to life term in the assassination case.
