mh370SEPANG, March 15 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today confirmed that the unknown flight traced by the primary radar was flight MH370, saying it had deviated from its original path heading to Beijing and has gone missing since last Saturday.

“Today, based on the raw satellite data, that was obtained from the satellite data service provider, we can confirm that the aircraft shown in the primary radar data was flight MH370,” he said.  In view of that development, Malaysia and its international counterparts had determined that the plane’s last communication with the satellite was in one of two possible corridors.

The two possible corridors are a northern corridor stretching approximately from the border of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan to northern Thailand or a southern corridor stretching approximately from Indonesia to the southern Indian ocean.

“The investigation team is working to further refine the information,” he said.
Despite media reports on the possibility of a hijacking, Najib stressed that the authorities were still investigating on all possibilities as to what caused the MH370 to deviate from its original flight path.
